Billing Peak Times

Billing Peak Times

Northern Electric Cooperative's rate structure for members on a coincident demand rate places an emphasis on reducing electric demand during the monthly billing peak of the co-op's wholesale-power supplier - East River Electric Power Cooperative. Northern Electric members are billed based on the kilowatt (kW) demand on their meter during the single 30-minute monthly peak for the entire East River system.

The amount of times East River approaches the potential monthly billing peak and dispatches load control varies from month to month and is based on multiple factors including weather, irrigation, grain drying, holidays, or even if schools are in or out of session. The chart below is provided to inform Northern Electric Cooperative members about the exact time and day the East River system hit the billing peak and the number of load-control events along with the cumulative number of total load-control hours for the month.
