Saving money is part of our electric cooperative

Members must be in GOOD Standing with NEC in order to qualify and receive benefits through our marketing program.

Residential Heating System Incentives-(single family):

Northern Electric offers members a five percent interest loan to cover the cost of installing new electric heating equipment, ductwork, wiring and labor. MAXIMUM LOAN AMOUNT IS $10,000.

AND/OR: a $600 cash rebate for the installation of an "ENERGY STAR" rated ground source or air source heat pump. (Minimum 10KW electric resistance back-up required for a rebate.)

PLEASE NOTE: NEC will not provide marketing rebates or free boilers for any other electric heating system such as in-floor, electric storage or resistance heating. These systems (along with heat pumps) do, however, still qualify for Northern's special reduced electric heating rate.

Ag and Commercial Heating System Incentives:

  • Geothermal and air-source heat pumps* - $50.00/ton capacity
  • Resistance heat installations - $10/KW (there is a 600 KW maximum)

Crop Drying Incentives:

Low temperature and natural air crop drying system qualify for the 5% interest rate loan-marketing program and special crop-druing rates.

Irrigation Automatic Restart Rebates:

East River will provide a rebate of 50% of the cost, up to $1,000.00.

Water Heater Rebates:

Installing an electric water heater in your home will result in a monthly $6 credit to your electric bill.

Replacement of existing electric units* 6.00/gal.
New Construction* 6.00/gal.
Conversion from fossil fuel* 8.00/gal.

Construction of a new "All Electric" home* with Air Source heat pump

* Note: All water heaters must be lifetime warranty units and connected to the Load Management System to qualify for any associated rebates and special heat rates. Although NEC carries certain models of water heaters on hand, Members may purchase a qualified unit from any vendor, contractor or installer and still receive the rebate with a valid receipt.
